Ellis Grant

Ellis Grant is a good friend of mine. Not only is he a 6 foot freshman BUT he is a 6 foot freshman with some darn good drawing skills. His art looks cartoony ( If that describes it). It is very detailed with shades, but at the same times has an explosion of color. It amazes me how he draws with such crazy characters. Everything he draws is new and different. This unique technique really show his creativity as an artist. Personally I think that his art looks like Hundertwasser (if you know him). Not with the designs but with the abstractness and the whole crazy ideas he has behind the art. He uses bold pens which really shows in a lot of the art that he has. Unfortunately i didn't get a chance to get ALL of the drawings that Ellis has created. I would love to post them considering that each of them has such a uniqueness to them. His art is so interesting and i hope that he, one day, becomes a well known artist. Keep up the amazing work Ellis!

I sat down with Ellis and asked him some questions... and this is how it went (he really has a way with words...)

Question :What inspired you to draw?
Ever since I was a little kid I just drew a lot…I guess. There isn’t a specific reason but I just like to draw.

Question :What do you focus on in your art?
Kinda strang things. I wish I had a better way of saying it. Kinda like the abnormalities of daily life. It sounds kinda pretentious but I like how odd things really look, so I focus on the oddness of life.

Question :Where do you get your inspiration for art?
Hmm that’s a hard one. I don’t know if there’s a main place of where I get my inspiration but ill be drawing and one idea turns into a bigger idea and then a bigger idea and then it turns into one of my drawings.

Question :If someone were to ask how your art is different from any other style, how would you respond.
Its not...I can’t classify art to be any different. My art and others are in a way the same, but it’s hard to say my art is really THAT unique.
